Serving the business community since 1998, Team Taylor County is an initiative of the Campbellsville-Taylor County Economic Development Authority, created to lead economic and community development efforts for Campbellsville and Taylor County, Kentucky. David Chewning has been selected to serve as Team Taylor County’s next Executive Director effective August 3, 2026. Chewning will lead the Campbellsville-Taylor County Economic Development Authority’s efforts to recruit new investment, support existing industries, advance strategic infrastructure projects, and foster long-term economic growth throughout Taylor County.
A Campbellsville native and Taylor County High School graduate, David brings nearly four decades of leadership experience in manufacturing, finance, operations, and strategic planning. He has spent the past 38 years with Ingersoll Rand, where he advanced from a summer assembler on the production floor to Director of Operations. In his current role, he led operations across four manufacturing facilities in Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, and Ontario.
Throughout his career, David has led major operational improvements, workforce development initiatives, organizational transformation efforts, and capital expansion projects. He also worked closely with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development to secure incentives supporting the expansion of Ingersoll Rand’s Campbellsville facility, providing valuable firsthand experience in business recruitment, retention, and expansion.
David’s commitment to Taylor County extends far beyond his professional career. He previously served as President of the Campbellsville Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the Campbellsville-Taylor County Economic Development Authority. He has also dedicated decades to serving the community as a youth coach, mentor, and volunteer leader, while continuing to serve as an Elder and Treasurer at Woodlawn Christian Church.
David earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Management and Leadership from Campbellsville University. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
A lifelong resident of Campbellsville, David and his wife, Jennifer, have been married since 1989 and have two sons, Matthew (wife Sarah) and John (wife RaeAnn), and two granddaughters. Guided by a philosophy of putting faith, family, and service first, David is committed to building opportunities that strengthen Taylor County’s economy and enhance the quality of life for future generations.
As a non-profit organization, Team Taylor County is governed by the six-member Campbellsville-Taylor County Economic Development Authority Board of Directors, appointed by city and county governments. Each board member is representative of the various community stakeholders with a vested interest in growing economic development opportunities for Campbellsville and Taylor County.
The Board meets regularly on the second Friday of each month at 8 a.m. ET in the Lower Level Meeting Room of the Campbellsville Civic Center, 205 N Columbia Ave, Campbellsville. Meetings are open to the public. Approved meeting documents can be found on our Transparency page.
