Team Taylor County is proud to announce its participation in the REDI Sites program, a first-of-its-kind national standard for evaluating site readiness for U.S. office and industrial projects. Administered by the Site Selectors Guild, the REDI Sites program provides a rigorous, third party reviewed assessment to help communities position their properties for investment. As part of the program, a 95-acre site within the Heartland Commerce and Technology Park (HCTP), Taylor County’s premiere industrial site, has received a Gold-Level designation, recognizing its readiness for development and alignment with industry expectations.
Launched in 2024, REDI Sites was created to bring consistency, credibility, and visibility to site readiness, a process that has historically varied from state to state. Each site is evaluated across five core categories: ownership and entitlements, ease of development, utility access, environmental considerations, and logistics.
“We’re honored to receive a Gold-Level designation through REDI Sites,” said Ron McMahan, executive director of Team Taylor County “This program elevates our ability to market Taylor County to companies seeking investment-ready locations. In partnership with our local rural electric coop and the East Kentucky Power Cooperative, we were able to make recent infrastructure investments within the industrial park, making it an even more desirable property. The feedback we received as part of this evaluation process proves our efforts are working and will help us further enhance our site’s competitiveness.”
The REDI Sites Gold-Level certification further builds upon recent development momentum within the industrial park. Earlier this year, Taylor County was awarded a highly competitive $1.75-million grant through the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) to support the construction of a Build-Ready pad on 53.5 acres in the Heartland Commerce and Technology Park. Team Taylor County will be seeking construction bids on this project in the coming weeks.
HCTP is primed for development with access to power, water, and sewer utilities. Additionally, on-site utility extensions will be completed as part of the KPDI project. The expanded infrastructure aligns with ongoing and completed roadway improvements, including key 2+1 widenings of nearby portions of US 68/55, KY 55/KY 80 and KY 210, ensuring seamless connectivity to I-65, the Bluegrass Parkway, and the Cumberland Parkway. The park’s new 20 MW substation, slated for expansion to 40 MW within 18-24 months, underscores the site’s readiness to meet future industrial demands.
“As a regional hub for healthcare, education, shopping and entertainment, Taylor County is in the center of the labor market area,” added McMahan. “The site is also situated near the 8,200-acre Green River Lake, offering an enhanced and attractive quality of life for prospective employers and employees. This national REDI Sites certification from the Site Selectors Guild, along with investments from the Kentucky Product Development Initiative, positions Taylor County as a premier location for industrial investment, with significant potential for job creation and economic growth.”
